This year we have nearly 30 projects covering a wide range of nanoscience, including facile synthesis of organic and inorganic nanowires and nanostructures, novel fabrication routes, building of functional bioarchitectures, nanostructured devices and nanowire applications. Hydrothermal synthesis and photocatalytic study of orthorhombic V2O5 nanowires
In collaboration with Patole Shashikant and Prof. J. B. Yoo (at Engineering Department of SKKU, we are synthesizing large-scale orthorhombic V2O5 single-crystalline nanowires with diameters of 100-150 nm and lengths into the tens of micrometer range via hydrothermal reaction of aqueous solution of vanadium Tri-isopropoxide. The morphology of the nanowires will be examined by a field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM), High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HRTEM), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, Thermal Gravimetric Analysis (TGA). The photocatalytic study of our nanowires will be investigated by observing optical degradation of the toluidine blue O dye under a visible and UV irradiation.
